TAR25, Recap Leg 10, 12/5/14

Welcome to Leg 10! Last time, on Surfin’ Through Singapore, five teams race to Singapore.  Cyclists start strong by getting a better flight, but then lose a surfing Fast Forward to the surfers, who finish first.  Even with a clever misdirection from the Wrestlers, Kym and Alli find themselves in last place and are eliminated.  Misti and Jim were safe, and allow the Save to go unused.  Who will be eliminated. . . next? Arrival at the pit stop last episode:

1st – Adam/Bethany, Team Sharknado, #SoulSurfers

3rd – Misti/Jim, Team Noodle Domination, #The Dentists

Clue: Fly to Manila, Philippines!  Once there, travel to Baclaran Church in Parañaque to get your next clue from the flower vendor.

3:35 PM Brooke/Robbie (2nd)

3:48 PM Misti/Jim (3rd)

4:27 PM Amy/Maya (4th)

Some teams make their way to a travel agent in the following order:

1- Adam/Bethany

2- Brooke/Robbie

There, the teams are told that the earliest arrival is at 11 pm on an Air Singapore flight, and seats are filling up.  So teams make their way to the airport and arrive in the following order:

1- Misti/Jim

2- Amy/Maya

3- Brooke/Robbie

4- Adam/Bethany

The scientists pre-reserved their tickets on the phone before they arrived at the airport, so the Dentists find that they have to take the later Philippine Air flight.  And then the Scientists run into the Wrestlers and discuss what happened on the previous leg.  Whatever. 

Flights shake down in the following order:

Flight 1, Singapore Air, arrives Manila, 11 pm:

1) Adam/Bethany

2) Brooke/Robbie

3) Amy/Maya

Flight 2, Philippine Air, arrives Manila:

1) Misti/Jim

Teams fly to Manila using the Amazing Red and Blue Lines and arrive in the following order:

1- Brooke/Robbie

2- Adam/Bethany

3- Amy/Maya

4- Misti/Jim

Teams make their way to Baclaran Church via taxicab.  Teams arrive in the following order:

1- Brooke/Robbie

2- Adam/Bethany

3- Amy/Maya

4- Misti/Jim

And then they find out that clue distribution is at 6:30 AM.  So they wait until the morning and get their clues in the following order:

1- Brooke/Robbie

2- Misti/Jim

3- Adam/Bethany

4- Amy/Maya

Teams are now instructed to travel via jeepney to Rosario Municipal Plaza and go to Salinas Specials to get their next clue.  Teams board the jeepneys in the following order:

1- Adam/Bethany

2- Brooke/Robbie

3- Misti/Jim

4- Amy/Maya

Teams arrive at the plaza, find Salinas Specials, and get their clues in the following order:

1- Misti/Jim

2- Adam/Bethany

3- Brooke/Robbie 

4- Amy/Maya

And we get the Detour Clue.

DETOUR:

Catch OR Coach

*Catch: Teams are instructed to travel to Rosario Fish Port in Manila Bay and use a bucket to transport 300 pounds of fish from the bay to the fish house, where Jo the Broker would give them their next clue.

*Coach: Teams are instructed to travel to RGC Side Car and Welding Shop and construct and attach a sidecar to the motorcycle.  Once correct, the mechanic will give teams their next clue.

All teams must travel to the task via motor tricycle, which the Scientists almost ignored.

1- Brooke/Robbie choose Catch – Brooke: “You are ridic-u-lous.”

2- Adam/Bethany choose Coach

3- Misti/Jim choose Coach – whose attention to detail is failing them again.

4- Amy/Maya choose Coach – Maya: “Lord, please let us know if we chose the right motorcycle.”  Amy: “Lord doesn’t care which tuk-tuk you build!”

Teams complete the detour in the following order:

1- Brooke/Robbie
2- Adam/Bethany

3- Misti/Jim  

4- Amy/Maya

Teams are now instructed to travel to the Rice Fields in Naic.  Teams arrive in the following order:

1- Brooke/Robbie
2- Adam/Bethany

3- Misti/Jim  

4- Amy/Maya

Teams are now given the instruction to chose an ox, a plow, and a plot of land and use the plow to plow the field and find the next clue.  Sound familiar?  That’s because this is a Switchback, a task previously performed on the race in the same location. (Toyouke: "Not really this time. Plus they didn't tell anyone about it and no one got the reference.")  This one is from TAR5, Leg 11, causing one of the most memorable lines of TAR history, thanks to the unforgettable Colin: “My ox is broken!” Anyway, teams plow and find their clues in the following order:  

1- Misti/Jim

2- Amy/Maya

3- Brooke/Robbie 

4- Adam/Bethany

Teams are now instructed to make their way on foot to the Rice Field Farmhouse, the PIT STOP of the tenth leg of this racearoundtheworld.  The last team to arrive MAY be eliminated!

1- Misti/Jim – who win a trip for two to Vietnam.

2- Amy/Maya

3- Adam/Bethany

4- Brooke/Robbie

And Kym and Alli are. . . not eliminated!  This is the third of three predetermined non-elimination legs and they are still in the race, but they will have a Speed Bump on the next leg.
