TAR22, Recap Leg 11, 5/5/13

Welcome to Leg 11! Last time, on I’m Just Getting Used To This Skirt Thing,  teams raced from Berlin to Edinburgh, Scotland.  There was lots of U-Turning, and Mona and Beth working through a speed bump.  But ultimately, they were the stronger team, and Joey and Meghan were eliminated.  Who will be eliminated. . . next? Arrival at the pit stop last episode:

1st – Max/Katie, Team Honeymooners

2nd – Bates/Anthony, The Hockey Brothers

3rd – Caroline/Jennifer, Team Nashville Stars

4th – Mona/Beth, "Typical" Soccer Moms

Niddry Street South, Old Town, Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom

4:07 PM Max/Katie (1st) – (Toyouke: “I will say this about Max and Katie: they've been pretty drama-free. I do see a tendency in Katie to be nasty (like the car driving Detour). But that's happened how many times? Maybe twice? I feel like they've had more setbacks than that. Or maybe they're just the type of couple that is great to each other only when nothing is going wrong.”)

Clue: Travel by train to Stranraer and catch a ferry across the Irish Sea to Belfast, Northern Ireland!  Once there, find the marked warehouse, choose a Ford Fiesta, and drive yourselves to Peatlands Park to find your next clue. 

(Toyouke: “More driving? Did the producers get an earful about the lack of driving last season and decide to step it up?”)

4:14 PM Bates/Anthony (2nd) 

5:27 PM Caroline/Jennifer (3rd)

7:27 PM Mona/Beth (4th)

Teams travel to the train station and arrive in the following order:

1- Max/Katie

2- Bates/Anthony 

3- Caroline/Jennifer

4- Mona/Beth

Teams make their way to Stranraer on two different trains and arrive in the following order:

1- Bates/Anthony

2- Max/Katie 

3- Caroline/Jennifer

4- Mona/Beth – Beth: “It sucks to see everyone.”  (Toyouke: “It sucks to see everyone? You were last! You should be glad there is bunching.”)

Teams find out that the first ferry to Belfast is at 7:30 am.  So all teams wait for the ferry.  Teams board the ferry and arrive in Belfast in the following order:

1- Mona/Beth

2- Caroline/Jennifer 

3- Bates/Anthony

4- Max/Katie

Teams make their way to the warehouse with their Ford Fiestas.  Teams get their cars in the following order:

1- Mona/Beth

2- Caroline/Jennifer 

3- Max/Katie

4- Bates/Anthony

Teams now drive themselves to Peatlands Park.  After some brief wrong turns, teams get their clues in the following order:

1- Bates/Anthony

2- Max/Katie 

3- Mona/Beth

4- Caroline/Jennifer

And teams get the twelfth roadblock clue.

ROADBLOCK:

Who wants to get bogged down snorkeling?

In this roadblock, roadblockers must compete in the sport of bog snorkeling.  Teams take a train to the bog, and one team member dons a mask, snorkel, wetsuit and flippers.  They must cannonball into the bog, and then swim a 100 yard lap in under four minutes to get their next clue.

(Toyouke: “Maybe the theme of this season is "dumbass fake 'sports' that no one does sober, assuming they weren't invented by the producers"”)

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

1- Anthony – Bates: "The worst part for me was trying to squeeze his junk into the wetsuit."

2- Katie  

3- Mona

4- Jennifer – who takes three tries.

After much bog snorkeling, teams finish the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Bates/Anthony

2- Max/Katie  

3- Mona/Beth

4- Caroline/Jennifer

Teams are now instructed to drive back to Belfast and find “The Thing With The Ring” for their next clue.  Teams arrive in the following order:

1- Max/Katie

2- Mona/Beth 

3- Bates/Anthony

4- Caroline/Jennifer – who get directed to the wrong monument.

Teams now receive the Detour Clue.

DETOUR:

Tray It OR Spray It

*Tray It: Teams make their way to Titanic Dock and Pump House where they find a five course menu that they must deliver to a table of six diners in a tent in the bottom of the boat dock.  One person prepares the trays while the other serves.  Once all five courses are served to the right people in the right order, the captain will give them their next clue.

*Spray It: Teams make their way to T13 Skatepark and finish a graffiti design using a picture.  Once the design is complete to the artist’s specifications, he will give them their next clue.

1- Max/Katie choose Tray It

2- Bates/Anthony choose Tray It

3- Mona/Beth choose Tray It

4- Caroline/Jennifer choose Spray It

Teams complete the detour in the following order:

1- Max/Katie

2- Bates/Anthony

3- Mona/Beth 

4- Caroline/Jennifer

Teams are now instructed to make their way to Ulster Hall, the PIT STOP of the eleventh leg of this racearoundtheworld.  The last team to arrive WILL be eliminated!

1- Max/Katie –who win a trip for two to the Dominican Republic.

2- Bates/Anthony

3- Mona/Beth

4- Caroline/Jennifer

And Caroline and Jennifer are eliminated.  Caroline says that the entire trip was a gift.
