TAR22, Recap Leg 6, 3/24/13

Welcome to Leg 6! Last time, on I’ve Got Me a Car, It Seats About Twenty,  teams raced from Bali to Hanoi, Vietnam. Dave and Connor finally decided to call it quits, which meant the “drama” surrounding the Double Blind U-Turn didn’t really matter.  And Dave and Connor were eliminated.  Who will be eliminated. . . next? Apparently, people were offended by parts of the episode, and so TAR apologized at the beginning.  (Toyouke: “Huh? I didn't know people were offended. OH, wait, I did hear about that. When they went to the B-52 memorial, apparently people were upset about that.”)

Arrival at the pit stop last episode:

Clue: Fly 6000 miles to Maun, Botswana!  In order to get there, you must travel to a travel agent in Hanoi and tell the man out front what country you are going to in order to be let in.  Once in Maun, make your way to Mack Air and sign up for a charter to Makgadikgadi Pans National Park to get your next clue.

Teams head for the travel agent.  They arrive in the following order:

1- Pam/Winnie – who use a computer to find the country.

2- Max/Katie – who use Pam and Winnie’s computer to find the country.

3- Caroline/Jennifer – who are fed the answer by Max and Katie.

4- Mona/Beth – who find a smart phone to get the country.

5- Bates/Anthony – who stand outside hopelessly until Caroline and Jennifer tell them the answer.

6- Joey/Meghan

7- Chuck/Wynona – who start going through their passport visas to find the right country.  SMART!

Teams arrive at the airport in the following order:

1- Pam/Winnie

2- Max/Katie 

3- Caroline/Jennifer

4- Mona/Beth 

5- Bates/Anthony

6- Joey/Meghan

7- Chuck/Wynona

There is a confrontation between Joey and Meghan and Chuck and Wynona about the U-Turn but I think it’s false drama.  Anyway, the Amazing Blue Line takes us to Maun.  Teams arrive in the following order:

1- Caroline/Jennifer

2- Bates/Anthony 

3- Max/Katie

4- Joey/Meghan 

5- Mona/Beth

6- Chuck/Wynona

7- Pam/Winnie

Teams head for Mack Air and sign up for the charters in the following order:

Flight 1, departs 9:00 AM

1) Caroline/Jennifer – “We saw elephants!”

2) Bates/Anthony

Flight 2, departs 9:15 AM

1) Max/Katie

2) Joey/Meghan

Flight 3, departs 9:30 AM

1) Mona/Beth

2) Chuck/Wynona – Chuck: "This is where Lion King was made!”

3) Pam/Winnie

Teams arrive at Makgadikgadi Pans and get their clue in the following order:

1- Caroline/Jennifer

2- Bates/Anthony 

3- Joey/Meghan

4- Max/Katie  

5- Mona/Beth

6- Chuck/Wynona

7- Pam/Winnie

Teams are now instructed to drive themselves down Old Xhumaga Road, and follow the marked signs to their next clue.  Teams arrive in the following order:

1- Bates/Anthony

2- Caroline/Jennifer 

3- Joey/Meghan

4- Max/Katie  

5- Mona/Beth

6- Chuck/Wynona

7- Pam/Winnie

And once they enter, teams get the seventh roadblock clue.

ROADBLOCK:

Who wants to make a new friend?

In this roadblock, roadblockers must choose a group of three bushmen and find a scorpion hole to dig out a live scorpion.  Once they have one and have placed it in a jar, they can get their next clue.

(Toyouke: “Were they going for a "The Gods Must Be Crazy" reference? Because then it should have been a Coke bottle and not a jar.”)

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

1- Bates

2- Caroline

3- Joey – (Toyouke: “Oh, Joey, you're an idiot. Also maybe tone down the stereotypical flaming.  Joey, stop being a girl.  And I say that as a girl who hates bugs.”)

4- Max – “These guys don’t have day jobs!”

5- Mona

6- Wynona

7- Pam

After much squealing, face-making and scorpion hunting, teams finish the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Bates/Anthony – Bates: “I don’t mind being pinched.”  Anthony: “By the country singers!”

2- Caroline/Jennifer

3- Mona/Beth

4- Max/Katie

5- Joey/Meghan

6- Pam/Winnie

7- Chuck/Wynona

Teams are now instructed to load their bushmen into their vehicle and continue down Old Xhumaga Road to their next clue. Teams arrive in the following order:

1- Bates/Anthony

2- Caroline/Jennifer 

3- Max/Katie   

4- Mona/Beth

5- Joey/Meghan

6- Pam/Winnie

7- Chuck/Wynona

Teams now receive the Detour Clue.

DETOUR:

Fire OR Fowl

*Fire: Teams must walk with their bushmen to a camp and make fire using sticks, zebra manure, and hay.  Once they make fire and light a pipe, they get their next clue.

*Fowl: Teams must walk with their bushmen to hunting ground and create a guinea fowl trap.  Once created, they must spring the trap to get their next clue.

1- Bates/Anthony choose Fire

2- Caroline/Jennifer choose Fire – but realize that it is hard, and Bald Snark to Fowl.

3- Mona/Beth choose Fire – but realize that it is hard, and Bald Snark to Fowl.

4- Max/Katie choose Fire – but realize that it is hard, and Bald Snark to Fowl.

5- Joey/Meghan choose Fire – but realize that it is hard, and Bald Snark to Fowl.

6- Pam/Winnie choose Fowl – (Toyouke: “Hee, Pam and Winnie. That's exactly what I would do: know from watching Survivor how hard it is to make fire.”)

7- Chuck/Wynona choose Fowl 

Teams complete the detour in the following order:

1- Bates/Anthony

2- Pam/Winnie

3- Chuck/Wynona 

4- Joey/Meghan 

5- Caroline/Jennifer  

6- Mona/Beth

7- Max/Katie

Teams are now instructed to travel by foot with their bushmen to Meno A Kwena Safari Camp, the PIT STOP of the sixth leg of this racearoundtheworld.  The last team to arrive may be eliminated!

1- Bates/Anthony –who win a trip for two to Phuket Thailand.

2- Pam/Winnie

3- Chuck/Wynona

4- Joey/Meghan

5- Caroline/Jennifer

6- Mona/Beth

7- Max/Katie

Max and Katie are last, but this the second of the three nonelimination legs, and they are still in the race.  But they will have to complete a Speed Bump next round.
