TAR21, Recap Leg 11, 12/9/12

Welcome to Leg 11! Last time, on Driving Stick Shift Is Hard Since We Haven’t Had to Do It Yet, teams raced from the Netherlands to Mallorca, Spain.  The alliance was in full force (Toyouke: “Stupid alliances. Hate. I don't want to watch this show if people are going to do this every season.”), but in the end, bad driving caused the Twinnies to have a rough leg, landing them in last place on the final nonelimination leg.  (Toyouke: “The twins did not "awaken a sleeping giant". They failed at driving. Because your stupid show didn't make them drive themselves anywhere until almost the last leg.”)  They will have a Speed Bump on this leg, leading into the final three.  Who will be eliminated. . . next? Clue: Fly back to Barcelona, and then take the train to La Gare de Saint-Pierre-de-Corps in Tours, France!  Once there, find the parked Ford Escapes to find your next clue.  You have $520 for this leg of the race.

Teams arrive at the airport in the following order:

1- Trey/Lexi
2- Jaymes/James
3- Josh/Brent

4- Natalie/Nadiya

The teams all get on different flights back to Barcelona, as noted by the Amazing Red, Yellow, and Orange lines returning to the mainland.  Teams arrive in Barcelona in the following order:

1- Josh/Brent
2- Natalie/Nadiya
3- Jaymes/James

4- Trey/Lexi

All the teams meet up on the train and arrive in Tours (Auburnium0513: “I think I may have been to that train station by accident.”) in the following order:

1- Trey/Lexi
2- Jaymes/James
3- Natalie/Nadiya

4- Josh/Brent

Once there, teams are instructed to pick up eight crates and load them into the Ford Escape using the hands free hatchback opening system.  (Toyouke: “Look, I do think this "kick to open the back gate" thing is actually really cool and a good idea. I don't think you need to base AN ENTIRE TASK on advertising it.”)  Once complete, teams are to drive themselves to the Château de Villandry to get their next clue by finding the Stone Dog statue.  Teams load and depart in the following order:

1- Trey/Lexi
2- Jaymes/James – James wants to win a new car for his mom.
3- Natalie/Nadiya – Natalie: “I never thought the gays would be a threat!  Evil Gays!”  (Toyouke: “They aren't evil. Guido was evil. Lynn and Alex were evil. “)

4- Josh/Brent

Teams arrive at the Château de Villandry in the following order:

1- Trey/Lexi
2- Jaymes/James
3- Natalie/Nadiya

4- Josh/Brent

Teams search the grounds and find the Stone Dog in the following order:

1- Trey/Lexi
2- Jaymes/James
3- Josh/Brent

4- Natalie/Nadiya

When Natalie and Nadiya arrive, they find their Speed Bump.

SPEED BUMP:

A speed bump is a task that must be performed by the last place team on a non-elimination leg. Once they complete this task, they may return to the place where the speed bump occurred and continue the leg. In this speed bump, teams must find the Prince Jerome room in the château and correctly lace up a corset for a period actress in order to get their next clue..

Teams complete the Speed Bump in the following order:

1- Natalie/Nadiya

After much corset lacing, they continue with the rest of the teams in getting the clue in the following order:

1- Trey/Lexi
2- Jaymes/James
3- Josh/Brent

4- Natalie/Nadiya

Teams are now instructed to drive themselves to Leonardo Da Vinci’s final resting place, which teams had to figure out was the Château d’Amboise.  (Auburnium0513: “DaVinci's final resting place?  Amboise!  The DaVinci House is amazing!  I've been to Amboise, it was amazing and huge and only a fraction of the original château is left.”)  Teams arrive in the following order:

1- Trey/Lexi
2- Jaymes/James
3- Josh/Brent

4- Natalie/Nadiya

And we get the Detour Clue.

DETOUR:
Chow OR Plow
*Chow: Teams travel to the Château de Cheverny and sort and weigh meat for packs of hunting dogs.  Once the food has been laid out properly, teams will be able to get their next clue.
*Plow: Teams travel to the Château de Cheverny and use a traditional plow to make four burrows ready for planting.  Once complete, teams would get their next clue.

1- Trey/Lexi choose Plow

2- Natalie/Nadiya choose Chow

3- Josh/Brent choose Chow

4- Jaymes/James choose Plow

Teams complete the detour in the following order:

1- Trey/Lexi
2- Jaymes/James

Teams are now instructed to drive themselves to the town of Bourré and find La Cave des Roches.  Teams then arrive in the following order:

1- Trey/Lexi
2- Jaymes/James
3- Natalie/Nadiya

4- Josh/Brent

Teams now get the twelfth roadblock clue.

ROADBLOCK:

Who’s a “fun guy”?

In this roadblock, roadblockers must unload their baskets from their cars and then visit the mushroom shop to learn about three different types of mushrooms that they must go into the caves and find.  Once team members have found 10 mushrooms of each of the three required types, the team will get its next clue.

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

1- Lexi
2- Jaymes
3- Brent

4- Natalie

After much mushroom searching, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Trey/Lexi
2- Jaymes/James

3- Natalie/Nadiya – (Auburnium0513: “Chambord??  NO!!  That's outside of Blois, not near Chenonceau!”)

4- Josh/Brent

Teams now must make their way to the Château de Chenonceau, the PIT STOP of the eleventh leg of this racearoundtheworld.  (Auburnium0513: “Chenonceau!  I've been there!  That was a beautiful château, the gallery over the river was amazing!”)  The last team to arrive WILL be eliminated!

Teams get to the Pit Stop in the following order:

1- Jaymes/James – who each win a 2013 Ford Escape.
2- Trey/Lexi
3- Josh/Brent – (Toyouke: “WHAT JUST HAPPENED.  Holy shit. I thought this was the usual "let's try to make everyone think it's close when it's not close at all." “)

4- Natalie/Nadiya

Natalie and Nadiya arrive last and are eliminated.  They feel that they should harness their twin power for good.
